No fewer than 20 African Ministers of Tourism are expected in Abuja for the 68th UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) meeting, scheduled to take place from June 11 to 13, 2025.
Themed “Harnessing Technological Solutions (AI) for the Future of African Tourism: Innovations, Growth, and Digital Transformation in Tourism”, the event will convene key stakeholders, policymakers, and industry experts to explore strategies for advancing tourism across the continent.
Director of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa, Ms. Elscia Grandcourt, disclosed that at least 300 participants are expected at the meeting. She revealed this during a courtesy visit to Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa.
Grandcourt, who was accompanied by Programme Officer Ms. Zines Zimmal, added that the African Union’s Commissioner for Tourism and representatives from international organisations would also be in attendance.
“Normally when we organise such an event, we can say that we cap the number of delegates up to between 300 to 350.
“We have the heads of the regional blocks also that are invited. So you can expect more or less this figure that we are talking about with a mix of the different profiles of attendees.
“Because that in addition to the international delegations, that includes also the local participants. And that is why we said that together with the Honourable Minister and her team, we have decided to do this technical workshop, because we really want the locals to gain some benefit out of this gathering.”
